At City Lifeline we are well known for our central London location and for being one of the longest established data centres in the country. But what many people do not know is that we also operate a backup, mirror and disaster recovery facility in Surrey.
Both data centres are designed, built and operated to the same high standards of reliability and resilience, and we have a private dark fibre connection between the two that provides secure, reliable, high-speed data communication at up to 10Gb/sec. The Surrey facility is situated on the edge of the M25 motorway ring just 20 miles from the central London facility. There is good access by train or car, making travel between the two sites very quick and easy. Using our matched Surrey and London data centres means customers can make their operations more reliable, more secure and more resilient against any unexpected failure or event.
You can also operate with a backup, mirror or disaster recovery configuration:
- Backup data centre - run your main operations from our London site and backup all of your data and your most critical operations in the Surrey facility. You can also duplicate all your critical data, so you can retrieve it quickly and seamlessly in the event of an unexpected failure.
- Mirror data centre - run all your operations from either central London or Surrey. The load can be controlled by load balancers, or one facility can deliver all the services with the other coming into full operation seamlessly if the first one becomes unavailable.
- Disaster Recovery data centre - the backup is brought into service only if there is a major failure at the other facility, with changeover being manual or automated. The level of service can be full or partial as needed, to ensure that critical operations continue to run.
City Lifeline is also ideal as a disaster recovery data centre in its own right. So if you already have a data centre in house, or if your servers are located within another facility, then we can provide a totally separate disaster recovery and business continuity solution from either our London or Surrey sites.
