SingTel - One of Asia’s major communications companies

With over 130 years of operating experience, SingTel is Asia’s leading communications group, providing multimedia and ICT solutions, including voice, data and video services, over both fixed and wireless platforms. The Group is the largest listed company on the Singapore Exchange by market capitalisation, with 23,000 staff and 445 million customers around the world.

SingTel’s UK operation originally had an in-house Data Centre in the same building as its offices in City Road. But when a lease expiry provide the opportunity to re-think. SingTel has all the experience and knowledge to build a new Data Centre. However, the company decided to try a professional central London colocation Data Centre, as opposed to the large investment required to build a new data centre from scratch.

Redcentric was selected based on three key criteria – location, reliability and resilience, and carrier availability. The two companies worked alongside each other to design the private suite, with SingTel taking advantage of Redcentric’s invaluable advice and experience – and with Redcentric’s London data centre team acting as an extension of SingTel’s own staff.

SingTel visited a number of different colocations centres, and found that only Redcentric entirely met their requirements and was well-equipped to match their needs. SingTel have now been clients of Redcentric since September 2008 and employ a highly qualified team of operations staff to look after the systems kept in the Redcentric London Data Centre.

In the future, SingTel aims to be Asia’s biggest and best ICT experience provider. With the support of Redcentric, SingTel can be confident about their long term goals. Kevin Waldock, Technical Director of SingTel Europe Ltd, stated, “These are exciting times for us all. We are very happy with Redcentric and I look forward to their continued support to help SingTel’s UK operations meet our corporate objectives.”

SingTel are particularly impressed with our continual improvements to the site. Kevin added, “Examples of the most recent upgrades are the installation of twin generators, operating to N+N standards and the new fingerprint recognition security system. These mean we can all rest a little bit easier knowing that the power, cooling and site are even more secure.”

“Redcentric offered us a unique London data centre solution. The private suite was top on all accounts in our evaluation and they were also keen on price. Our teams understand each other’s operations well. The longevity and continuity of the Redcentric team adds great value to our operations.”
