Colocation and Collocation in the data centre

What is a Colocation Data Centre?

A colocation data centre is an independently owned and run building where multiple data or telecommunications carriers locate their connections next to one another, enabling customers in the building to interconnect to them with a minimum of cost and complexity. In Central London, City Lifeline is an excellent example of a professional carrier neutral colocation data centre.

Colocation

Colocation is the most common spelling in both Europe and the USA.

Collocation

Collocation is often used as a spelling. Linguists use collocation to mean words which are commonly found together. For example, a pretty woman or a handsome man, but not a pretty man or a handsome woman. Microsoft Word uses collocation as its default spelling, automatically changing colocation to collocation, and, for this reason, collocation is the second most common usage after colocation. For collocation in data centres, see collocation

Co-location

Co-location is an alternative linguistic form of colocation. For co-location of servers and other electronic equipment, see co-location.

Co location

Co location means the same as colocation, just differently presented. For carrier neutral co-location, see co location.

Colo

Abbreviations are common in the industry, and colocation is often abbreviated to just colo. For installing telecoms or servers in a colo, see Colo.

Co-lo

Even abbreviations of colocation are sometimes amended colloquially. To find out about co-lo, see co-lo.

Co lo

It is even possible to find amendments to the colloquial amendments to the abbreviations for colocation. Co lo is an example. To find out about carrier neutral co lo, see co lo.
