Colocated Racks
A colocated rack in a data centre is one of many single or half racks in a common area. The colocation floor contains many racks from many customers.
Each colocated rack is individually lockable and has its own power feed from a unique breaker or breakers. Cooling, fire precautions and security are common to the whole colocation area. If required, a set of racks can be isolated inside a colocated rack cage.
Facilities of a colocated rack
A standard rack is 600mm wide x 1000mm deep x 42U high. Each rack is fitted with:
- under-floor Commando power connections
- a power distribution strip
- a current meter
- an IP-enabled remote power cycling switch
You can see your current draw and can remotely restart the equipment in your colocated rack without physically visiting the data centre.
